This morning, I think we need to start with this. Our National Shame has asked Dana White to serve as White House Press Secretary. Dana White is the chief executive of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, the group that staged a cage match at the White House because… classy. The Dotard wants White because White is “a violent Fighter and Warrior.”
Demented Donald also asked White to bring six UFC fighters to serve as press aides. He thinks he needs them to – Donny’s words – “defend us against the Lunatic Left.” Apparently, a reporter asks a question someone in the regime doesn’t like and goons pounce on the reporter and kick the ever-lovin’ crap out of them. Is that the vision?
I haven’t heard that White has any special qualifications for the job beyond maybe being able to beat people up – a skill that has not been needed in the briefing room in the past. Desired, from time to time, sure – but not needed. If he takes the job, his tenure might well challenge the longevity record of Anthony Scaramucci, who lasted ten days, or Katie Zacharia, who could only manage five.
Many people don’t think White will take the job. First, what kind of rats jump ONTO a sinking ship? Also, he has a VERY lucrative position with the UFC. Why would he leave that for a job that pays $195,000 a year? By the way, did you know the Press Secretary makes $195,000 dollars a year? Of course, I couldn’t even guess at the grift amounts White might take. Then again, we know the Democrats intend to impose oversight in a way the GOP simply refused to do.
Really, it’s classic Dumbass (with a ‘b’). Qualifications never seem important to the Drumpfster. He surrounds himself with people he admires on television, making him just as gullible as the people who admire him because he was on TV. He chooses people based on how well they pretend to like him. Donny’s ego won’t let him see that nobody who knows him likes him – they pander to him. They want to exploit his weaknesses, and this dude is nothing but quivering weakness…

Okay, so the left got it’s much needed “revolution” against the rising tides of fascism and now control Congress. Well, they will in a couple of months. (More on that in a moment.) Now I think we need a second revolution – this one in the ranks of the Democrats. The Old Guard Democrats – heavy emphasis on the “old” part – intend to remain in the leadership positions.
Bear in mind, this is the same crowd that confidently led Democrats to obscurity for most of the last 10 years or so. When they DID run things, they didn’t do a very impressive job. Chuck Schumer might be a skilled politician, but he’s not a very inspirational guy. He wants to continue in his leadership role as Senate Majority Leader. Others are not so sure. I think I’m with ‘others.’
Democrats need new, effective leadership. The Old Guard plays it safe far too often. I feel like I’m watching a remake of a movie I’ve seen before. The Dems are all giddy about their awesome win – and it was awesome – but they don’t seem aware that they (Democrats) were the only available option to the insanity and criminal behavior from the White House. Once again, people mostly did NOT vote FOR the Democrats. They voted against the GOP and the Dumbass (with a ‘b’).
It’s rather an important distinction. If the Dems had been doing things well, people wouldn’t be so frustrated with them. In several places, people didn’t elect Democrats, they elected Democratic Socialists. The masses are looking for people to do things that help work-a-day Americans, not the filthy rich. Establishment Democrats, DO, occasionally, do things to help work-a-day Joes, but only if such help doesn’t inconvenience their One Percent paymasters.
I’m ready for a youth movement. ‘Youth,’ in this case, indicating people up to forty or fifty years old. It’s all relative. Our current leadership runs closer to seventy and eighty years old. Their thinking is seventy to eighty years old, too. That’s not their fault. That’s just what happens when one doesn’t die. But this is a new world and younger people are more qualified to understand it. Sure, keep the elder statesmen around for experience, wisdom, and guidance, but let the younger people have a chance.
The Old Guard has not be inspirational, nor have they been particularly effective. Dems only seem to win when people just can’t stand the GOP anymore. That’s not, “We love you.” That’s, “RATS! Oh, alright.” That’s not exactly a ringing endorsement – and you just KNOW the person who settled keeps looking for a better opportunity. Let’s try something different, k? It would be hard for the Democrat’s esteem to tank much further, so there’s really nothing to lose…

I saw some video the day after the mid-terms. It consisted of cons insisting that with the Dems winning Congress on November 3rd, the price of gas should be down by November 4th. Now how silly is that? Dems don’t even get seated until January 3rd, assuming cons don’t stage another insurrection. Even when they do, they’re not going to have much power to change certain things.
The price of gas at the pump is up because of two things: Donny’s moronic war in Iran and corporate greed. Congress CAN address the gouging, but they don’t have much power over the war. They control the purse strings, yes. But the game is this: the President (or in this case, Trump) sends the troops into a war zone and then DARES Congress to withhold funding, leaving the troops in danger and exposed.
Whoever controls Congress, Democrat or Republican, folds right away because they can all see the future campaign ads where they’re accused of turning their backs on the troops. The concept that they were actually trying to get the troops out of harm’s way completely is just too nuanced for FAR too many Americans, a sad commentary on the intelligence of FAR too many Americans.
So what Congress has left is inquiries and investigations. Inquiries and investigations tend to be slow moving obstructions at best. The GOP had a unified government and used it to quickly destroy the US in pretty much every area anyone can think of. Now the country is operating under a divided government. Divided governments aren’t great at moving initiatives forward. Their primary strength is blocking unsavory things.
They’ll be able to interfere with the corruption and they’ll be able to investigate the activities of the Trump Crime Family, possibly putting an end to it – or at least slowing it down. They will not be able to legislate any large, sweeping corrections so long as the Dumbass (with a ‘b’) infests the Oval Office, so temper your expectations…
