Fragments…

There’s been a “reveal.” He has decided on a name. He wants to call it – you’ll never guess – ‘The President Donald J. Trump Ballroom.’ Back in the days of Pharaohs, when a previous leader fell out of favor with the current guy, it was common to send out teams to literally deface statues of the former. I mean, they literally chiseled the faces off of statues, making the person unrecognizable. They went to great trouble, sometimes, to completely erase any evidence of the existence of the now-out-of-favor guy.

In that spirit, if we ever manage to get rid of this waste of human flesh currently infesting the Oval Office, can we all agree to spend whatever money is needed to knock down his abomination of a “ballroom?” It would be a great first step toward eliminating this dark and ugly chapter from history…

I don’t know if you’ve noticed (of course you have) but this once-great nation no longer functions like it’s supposed to. There’s not ONE branch of government that hasn’t been corrupted to the cause, that of making the One Percent great again. We only have three branches. The Judicial branch has become a rubber stamp for the regime. The Legislative branch has, quite literally, simply left the building, no longer interested in governance. The Executive branch?

The executive branch has become a cesspool of criminality and stupidity, not necessarily in that order. Not ONE branch of the government is operating as dictated in the Constitution. So here’s a radical, rhetorical question: if no branch of the government is respecting the Constitution of the United States, what does that mean for the United States?

Yes, you can find on a map, to this day, a land mass with a defining border labeled ‘The United States of America.’ But the United States of America is NOT the land mass. We called ourselves ‘The Great American Melting Pot,’ referring to the variety of people that once comprised the United States, but the United States of America is NOT the people that inhabit the land mass.

By definition, the United States of America is… well, was, the Constitution of the United States. But the Orange Moron and Team Evil have dispensed with all of THAT foolishness. “Constitutions,” they seem to believe, “are for suckers.” And NONE of this has been an accident. It has been an on-going, slow-motion coup going back as far as Ronald Reagan.

But this isn’t about how we got here or if or when we could have, should have, done something – anything – to stop it. (We should have.) It’s FAR too late for woulda, coulda, shoulda. I’m thinking about where we go from here. My answer? In a word, fragmentation.

Since day one, the US has been a collection of disparate people. Going all the way back to the revolution, we’ve weathered conflicts between those different groups, up to and including the American Civil War. We can all name the different regions, to one degree or another. New England, the South, the Midwest, the Coastal states. But it’s quite the trick to hold those differing groups together. Our differences were our strength – until they were only our differences.

We’re currently living through the end of an empire. That rarely goes well for the fading empire. I suspect the architects of our destruction – the One Percent – were hoping to mirror the Roman model, where the Republic fell, but was replaced with an empire that continued to rule for hundreds of years more. I don’t think our fall will follow that example.

In the end, I suspect the land mass once known entirely as the United States of America will fragment into several, smaller countries. Did you notice how I skipped over the part that gets us there? I’m not good at predictions but I DO know that past is prologue. We’re not the first empire to fail, we’re only the latest – and when an empire falls, it fragments.

The most recent example, I think, was the old Soviet Union. Like the US, the USSR was also a large land mass made up of disparate people all held together by a strong central government. When that government failed, the regions became independent nations. I suspect that’s the model that will play out here.

It’s pretty straight-forward. The powers that be have already dispensed with the Constitution. Financial mismanagement is threatening the power of the US dollar. Once Donny is successful at installing a toady to the Fed, investor confidence with evaporate. It’s already on terribly shaky ground. What do you think all of that investment in gold is about?

The almighty dollar in the hands of this buffoon, will crash and surrender it’s place as the world’s reserve currency. All we’ll have left is our ridiculously over-powered military – which will become increasingly difficult to pay for until the final, fatal collapse. These aren’t “predictions,” per se. This is really just how empires die.

In the same way one can still find Russia on a map, not to mention Rome and Great Britain, the US will still be there in one form or another. I think in the end, California will lead a separate nation. The Deep South may splinter off, as well. I can’t honestly tell you a breakdown of who goes where but I do think we’ll be essentially starting again.

The process isn’t always ugly, but there’s no way Donny is smart enough to shepherd through a slow decline. As we’ve seen with pretty much everything he touches – he’s more of a wrecking ball kind of guy. Destruction is his thing. This guy brags about all the wonderful things he’s done for the American people, but he hasn’t actually DONE any of them. It’s all just blather. His legacy is a trail of destruction, but not “failure.” The destruction is intentional.

Frankly, I think it’s time for California to leave the union – based entirely on the idea that “the union” no longer exists. The Constitution has been rendered moot and without the Constitution, there IS no United States of America anyway. I do not suggest it will be an easy transition, only that we have no other real option. I know Gavin Newsom wanted to be President of the United States but that job doesn’t exist any more. He’s going to have to settle for President of California, the Bear Flag Republic. But at least it can still be a Republic…
