Blowing Up LA…

On Tuesday morning, the Guardian reported that the Petulant Pipsqueak said at one of his campaign rallies that Iran could attack a city in the US. He also indicated that he would be okay with that. “Let ’em take out Los Angeles. Let ’em take out San Diego.” Then, because he’s an idiot, he added, “This is a very small price to pay.” Ya think? No, I mean, DO YOU EVER THINK?!?

Do you know what Los Angeles and San Diego are just crawling with? Americans. US citizens. Thirteen+ million of them. And Trump is saying that Iran could take those cities out? He was mentioning it as a threat in an effort to scare his oh-so-frightened base but, really, he chose the acceptable targets?

Remember, he does that “weave.” (Professionals call it a word salad.) He HAD been talking about high gas prices, promising his base the high prices are temporary – only until he ends his stupid war with Iran. You know the one. That’s the war he keeps insisting he doesn’t want to end. That’s the one HE keeps saying Iran wants to stop but he won’t stop. So, essentially, he’s telling people it’s okay to pay ridiculously high gas prices – among the highest in history – until he decides otherwise?

Honestly, it’s hard to determine if he meant in the sentence that taking out LA and San Diego would be a small price to pay – or did his ailing and demented mind trip back to the high gas prices for a moment? People can interpret his horrible sentence construction either way and you know they will. Lefties will argue he meant to be giving Iran permission to destroy LA and San Diego. Conservatives will argue he meant high gas prices. I think he’s too stupid to create a sentence clear enough for anyone to know for sure. But he’s full of <nasty stuff> either way.

Giving permission for a foreign adversary to destroy two American cities is outrageous but then, so is pretending the high gas prices are the result of an existential battle the US had no choice to be fight. The moron in charge made a choice about that war-that’s-not-a-war. He had options. He chose wrong. High gas prices ARE too high a price to pay to stop Iran from getting a nuclear weapon since Iran swore off nuclear weapons as “contrary to Islam” in a fatwa issued in 2004.

Maybe some of this is why his poll numbers have plunged to new depths, yet again. The published poll numbers reflect some loss even of MAGA. I secretly suspect there are a number of MAGA out there who won’t support his very costly (to us) agenda but also won’t say so to pollsters. Reporters asked him about his newest poll numbers. His response? “I’m doing great.” Well at least one person thinks so. The rest of us are FAR less sanguine…

As of Tuesday, our moronic sleuth had discovered the reason for high gas prices: blue states. It’s a story they can sell to their base and it has some truth to it. Some truth. For one thing, refineries have closed here in California. But refineries have closed in Louisiana and Wyoming, too. Decidedly not blue states. Oh, and in each case, the STATE didn’t do that. Corporations did.

No, I’m not suggesting some nefarious purpose. Some refineries were damaged. Some were old or marginal. Some were converted to renewable fuels. Others no longer fit the owner’s strategy. The closures have been taking place around the nation, blue states and red. These are corporate decisions, not forced state closures.

And here’s the real question: did closing the refineries reduce refining capacity? It turns out, the answer to that question is no. Well, not substantially. In the 1980’s, the US had over 300 refineries. At the beginning of 2026, the nation had only about 130. But U.S. refining capacity didn’t decline much. That’s because modern refineries became much larger and existing facilities repeatedly expanded.

I should add, here, that California is going to be a special problem. It turns out, Californians live in an oil desert. California produces it’s own oil, but less and less each year. California isn’t connected by major refined-product pipelines to the enormous Gulf Coast refining center. So we’ll have to ship in finished product by tanker, often from Asia. But again, California has long suffered higher gas prices than the rest of the country.

So the Dumbass Dotard pointed to a problem that has been developing for years in both red and blue states, drooled a little, then pronounced “blue states.” He didn’t even mention his moronic war of choice in Iran or the closure of the Strait of Hormuz that resulted, the actual cause. But it turns out? No, not “blue states.” Most accurately, the actual cause is ‘changing nature of the industry.’ Why, it’s almost as if he’s simply trying to deflect responsibility for his own ill-advised actions…

Really? Oh. Em. Gee. Steve Hilton is a foreigner running for Governor here in California. He’s running as a Republican. Republicans like to pretend to be some kind of moral crusaders, protecting the country from moral failings like transgender and gay. They don’t seem to worried about criminals, rapers, and pedophiles. Weird. Anyway, Hilton ran an ad. I’ll let the Guardian describe if for you:

‘The video entitled “Just Try It, California” was released last week and depicts two young women with brightly colored hair, sitting on a bed in front of a pride flag in low lighting. One nervously says “I can’t believe I’m doing this”, while another strokes her hair and coaxes “don’t be nervous, it’s not that bad” before guiding her to fill out a ballot for Hilton and aggressively commanding “lick it.”‘

I guess we know where Hilton’s porn search history would take us, yes? And now he wants to treat all of us to his preferences. Lovely. There’s a reason I never believe cons when they claim to be arbiter of all things moral. There has hardly been a less moral group anywhere in history…
