Failure, Fiasco, and Fraud…

Okay, so riddle me this, if you would. I live in California. I was treated, yesterday, to not one, but two commercials from the GOP. One extolled the virtues of Ken Paxton, despite the reality of Ken Paxton. The other demonized James Talarico, despite the reality of James Talarico. The thing is, Paxton and Talarico are running for the Senate – in Texas.

Two national ad buys for a state race? What the hell? I wouldn’t vote for Paxton under any circumstances. I can’t legally vote for Talarico. Why would the GOP spend money on national ad buys for a state race? Should we look at that decision as an indicator as to how they handle money in general? Fiscally prudent, indeed. They’re advertising stupid spending. I guess, at least, that’s honest. Idiots…

Humanity. I’ve written before, the only question is what gets humans first, climate change or AI. Sometimes, I find myself rooting for climate change and AI. This Cornell case is one such moment. A woman gets drugged and gang raped – two years ago, in 2024. First question: what kind of a-hole thinks raping a woman might be fun? But, not just a rape. A gang rape. You’re there with friends, people you know.

She reports the event to the school. The school “looks into it” and decides they don’t want to harm the reputations and futures – of the rapers. Wait, what? They protected the rapers? No, don’t be silly. The rapers were punished. Oh, good. Authorities notified? Well, no, nothing so… serious. Hey, boys will be boys, amiright? We expelled a couple of them and suspended a couple others. Oh, also, we gave them a firm talking to and ordered them to write an essay on what they did.

Cornell has actually become defensive about the essays. “None of the individuals charged were offered the opportunity to write essays as a sole consequence of their involvement,” the university said. Right? They did get a firm talking to, as well. I mean, what do you want? And c’mon, isn’t she partly responsible? I mean, she was born with a vulva and she did go to a party. Fair game, eh?

And, listen. In fairness to rapers, she did get drunk. I mean, what more do you need? She’s a woman. She went to a party. She over-indulged. How is that NOT asking for it? What, you think she was just out having fun? She was alone, fercrissakes. Now you want to punish these guys for thinking that meant they could do whatever they wanted for however long they wanted? Where’s you sense of perspective?

The victim has now filed a lawsuit against the school and the seven rapers. She thinks – get this – that the school should have done more. Doesn’t she know? Schools bury this stuff if they can. Cornell did the best they could, but now the information is out there. Now the school is focused on protecting it’s own reputation.

They insist they did an investigation and forwarded (some of) the results to the local District Attorney. Tompkins County DA, Matthew Van Houten, said that he was never provided the full transcripts of those initial interviews Jane Doe conducted with Cornell police. Essentially, the DA considered it case-closed. The school had “handled” it.

Now, here’s her actual problem. Van Houten says the allegations made in the lawsuit are different than the statement she gave campus police at the time. He said her 2024 statement “did not allege that she was drugged against her will or gang raped” by multiple men. On the contrary,” Van Houten’s statement continued, “Jane Doe’s statement described her participation in drug use and sexual conduct as voluntary, conscious, and consensual.”

That’s going to be a problem at trial. Right after the event, she seemed okay with it. She even communicated with a couple of the men after the fact. But at the time of her initial statement, she included these words, according to campus police, “I can say with 100% confidence I was raped.” Her statements included the reality that she was WAY too intoxicated to give consent. According to the DA, some of those comments were not forwarded to his office with the initial filing.

The whole thing has become a huge public mess. It’s going to be investigated by competent people this time. In fact, Letitia James has been assigned to address the problem. THAT little fact caused the Dumbass to stick his disgusting face into the whole fray and – not surprisingly – on the side of the rapers. “And I feel badly for whoever she’s looking at because they won’t get a fair shake,” the dotard told reporters.

So now, of course, the victim and her attorney are receiving threats. She’s being told to withdraw her lawsuit or risk being “silenced” or harmed if she does not. It’s hard to say if the people issuing the threats are doing so in support of rape, 47, or both. The masses may have stayed out of it had not the Dumbass decided to flap his horrific lips. But this whole thing makes me think wiping out humanity might not be as bad an idea as it seems on the surface…

By now we’ve all heard 47 blathering that everything is going to be unicorns and rainbows right after the election. He knows exactly what to do, right? He’s got all the magic, he just needs to unleash it. Right after the election. He’s saying these things because his party is in trouble in this election. His party is in trouble in this election because his policies and the results have been absolutely disastrous.

He’s done FAR more to help Israel, Russia, North Korea, and China than he has the United States. When he campaigned, he understood that gas prices should be lower and that affordability is important to work-a-day Joes. He talked about it. He also promised to end forever wars. After he was in power, he changed his tune. High gas prices aren’t so bad, after all. Affordability is a made up word. Maybe he’ll bomb Iran some more.

Now another campaign looms and he’s right back to lower gas prices, affordability, and ending wars. That just seems like he’s saying one thing during campaigns, then doing whatever the hell he wants once the voters are out of the picture. What he says is that everything will eventually be fine. Trust him. Really, it will all be perfect in his inevitable “two weeks.” Why, I wonder, didn’t he do all of those wonderful things during the last 21 months so the race wouldn’t be so tough in the first place?

What he DOES is destroy the fortunes of America and Americans. He’s SO effective at harming America I suspect he’s doing it on purpose, possibly in response to orders from his handler, Putin. He has worked to destroy US alliances, the US economy, and the US military. Can all of this failure and destruction be accidental?

But he’s got his promises. You just wait. Right after the election – when there’s nothing you can do about it anymore – his real agenda will play out. That part is probably true, about the real agenda. I guess we’ll know, then, if it was a promise or a threat…
